How to make an appointment for house cleaning service?
- 1) After completing the payment, you will receive a confirmation email. Toby will then begin matching you with a cleaner who aligns with your service goals.
- 2) Once the right match is found, you will receive a booking success confirmation email. However, the matching process is influenced by various factors (e.g., service location and schedule), and a successful match is not guaranteed.
- 3) If Toby cannot find an available cleaner, you will be notified either through a phone call or an email about the unsuccessful booking. If you choose not to reschedule, any authorised payment will be promptly refunded to your original payment method.
Can I cancel or modify the booking of house cleaning service after purchasing?
- Yes, you can, but the following cancellation policy applies:
Cancellation - You need to cancel at least one business day before the service usage time. You will be charged a $100 administrative fee for cancellation, and the remaining balance of the service will be refunded within 7-14 business days. If you cancel on the day of the service, no refund will be given. We suggest you continue to let the service personnel serve you.
Changes - We only accept changes made at least one business day before the service usage time, and a $50 administrative fee will be charged for each change in service. If you request changes on the day of the service, your request will not be accepted. We suggest you continue to let the service personnel serve you.
If we are unable to successfully match a service personnel, and you request to change before the service usage time, you can change the service date and time for free.
Do I have to purchase insurance for home cleaners?
- HelloToby has purchased a basic insurance plan for all home service personnel. However, since we are a platform matching jobs for service providers, we recommend that you purchase the insurance for home cleaners according to the Employees' Compensation Ordinance.
Is there an additional charge for house cleaning services on Saturdays and Sundays?
- A peak period fee will be applied under the following circumstances:
- For bookings on Sundays, there will be a special time period charge of HK$5 per hour.
- For services required outside the hours of 9 am to 6 pm, a peak period fee of HK$20 per hour will be levied.
- Additional charges may be applicable on public holidays or during the New Year period. Please refer to the prices listed on hellotoby.com for precise charges.
How should I estimate the service hours for a cleaning company?
- According to Toby platform, for homes with a living area between 400 to 800 square feet, a full-house cleaning typically requires 3 to 4 service hours. For homes with a living area over 800 square feet, the cleaning usually takes 4 to 6 service hours.
Should I choose a one-time cleaning or a cleaning package?
- One-time cleaning services are ideal for customers who have occasional cleaning needs. They are charged on a per-visit basis, allowing you to book as needed. You can usually be matched with a cleaner in as little as one hour, quickly addressing your cleaning needs!
- However, if you require regular, scheduled cleaning, we recommend our signature cleaning packages (3, 6, 12, or 24 sessions). These packages are priced as low as $109/hour, which is more affordable than typical cleaning packages on the market, allowing you to enjoy professional cleaning services at a better value. Purchase once and meet your cleaning needs for several months, with discounts of up to 30% on long-term packages. This is the most economical, convenient, and affordable cleaning solution!
Any expiry date for home cleaning service packages?
- Yes, expiry dates for service packages can be found in your package details. After purchasing the package, all services should be used before the expiry date or they will be forfeited.
- Service package expiry times
- 1-time: within one month
- 3-time: within 3 months
- 6-time: within 4 months
- 12-time: within 6 months
- 24-time: within 12 months
Will the cleaner bring their own cleaning supplies and housekeeping equipment?
- We strongly recommend purchasing and providing cleaning supplies for the cleaner. Otherwise, you may be responsible for paying back the purchases made by your cleaner, and an additional hour will be enforced on top of the total cleaning time in order to compensate for the time spent purchasing the supplies.

- Cleaning Tools: water bucket, towels, rags, brooms, mops, stainless steel scrubber, blade scrapers, glass scrapers, sponges
Reminder before the home cleaner comes
- Please ensure you are attentive to your doorbell or phone notifications so that you can promptly admit our service providers. If customers do not answer the door upon the provider's arrival, the provider will wait in the vicinity for up to 45 minutes.
- If after this waiting period the door remains unanswered, the service providers reserve the right to depart and consider the service terminated. Should customers respond after the 45-minute mark but within the booked timeframe, the service will proceed as initially scheduled.
- We will not entertain any refunds or rescheduling for these occurrences. For any adjustments to the service, please contact us at 3703 3250 during business hours at least one business day prior to the scheduled service date.

Do I have to purchase Workers' Compensation Insurance for the house cleaner?
According to Section 40 of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance, all employers (including contractors and sub-contractors) are required to take out insurance policies to cover their liabilities both under the Ordinance and at common law for injuries at work in respect of all their employees, irrespective of the length of employment contract or working hours, full-time or part-time, permanent job or temporary employment. An employer who fails to comply with the Ordinance to secure an insurance cover commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a maximum fine of HK$100,000 and imprisonment for two years.
